Godfather of Film Music Alfred Newman’s Birth
Alfred Newman (March 17, 1900 – February 17, 1970) is an American composer, arranger, and conductor of film music. From his start as a music prodigy, he came to be regarded as a respected figure in the history of film music. In his four decades of long career, he composed music for more than 200 films winning forty-five Academy Award nominations and nine awards. He is perhaps best known for composing the fanfare that accompanies the studio logo at the beginning of 20th Century Fox’s productions.
He was among the first musicians to compose and conduct original music during Hollywood’s Golden Age of movies, later becoming a respected and powerful music directorin the history of Hollywood.
2.中国国医节
每年的3月17日为中国国医节，旨在将中医中药发扬光大，造福全世界。
1929年2月国民党政府卫生机构的主管俞云岫，在一次工作会议上提出：取消旧医药(那时中医中药被称为旧医药)，全盘否定中医中药。当时在医学界引起非常大的振动，大量的中医药人士纷纷抗议游说。在同年3月17日，全国17个省市、二百多个团体，三百名代表云集上海并召开大会，高呼“反对废除中医”、“中国医药万岁”等口号，前往南京请愿，通过各种方式表达了民心民声，因此，国民党政府不得不撤除取消旧医药的决定。为了纪念这次抗争的胜利，并希望中医中药能在中国乃至全世界弘扬光大，造福人类，医学界人士将每年的3月17日定为“国医节”。
